A user, not a guru. I check in to everything. I don't have a niche (except maybe my #drunktweets). I like these things and creating open and powerful ways to share. Oh, and gin. Content coordinator at HootSuite, so these words are mine. I'm just a girl, standing in front of the internet, asking it to love her. @taylorloren.

This Photo Uses Every Single Instagram Filter

How many steps does it take to go from Thomas Kinkade to Mark Rothko?
Eighteen, it turns out — at least if the image you’re using is a photo, and the tool you’re using is Instagram. The Belgian blog Appelogen decided to find out what would happen if it layered each of Instagram’s filters on top of each other, onto a single picture.

How to Write Fast: 8 Secrets to Better, Quicker Content Creation

I will admit, I have a bit of a girl crush on Marie Forleo. She is so passionate about helping women grow their business through online marketing, and all of her videos offer very tactical tips - no buzz words here!

  1. Flip your script - if you tell yourself you’re a really slow writer, then you will be a really slow writer.
  2. Begin with the end in mind - what do you want your reader to walk away with it?
  3. Keep a topic list - don’t waste time thinking about what you’ll write!
  4. Make it short and sweet - no one is going to not read your post because it’s too long.
  5. Create a content calendar - sit down and plan it out for the next few months so you’re not in a panic when it’s newsletter or blog post time.
  6. Don’t write and edit - this is huge! Write out all your thoughts, let it sit, and then come back to it a day or two later with fresh eyes and cut out all the fat.
  7. Remember Mr. P’s Law - “the amount of time one has to perform a task is the amount of time it will take to complete the task.” Give yourself a time limit!
  8. Be the vessel, not the source - let inspiration run it’s course and take the pressure off yourself.

13 Sloppy Mistakes You're Making With Your Calls-to-Action →

This is a great blog post by HubSpot that is in depth without being overwhelming.

Hint: it’s all about copy, copy, copy.

Having a consistent tone of voice and message with a campaign is critical, especially when it comes to creating effective CTAs - you don’t want to confuse your customer!

Remember, it’s only appropriate to be sloppy if you’re #drunktweeting. Dot those i’s, cross those t’s, and stay on brand!

Browsing through near endless streams of photos has always been a huge driver of time on site for Facebook’s web interface. But on mobile where slower connections can stall you from rapidly “nexting” to the next image, you might be reluctant to start viewing an album. Today’s move to a larger three-photo news feed preview could entice more users to start those long viewing sessions of family vacations, birthday parties, and their ex-girlfriends.

Facebook Takes A Cue From Instagram, Redesigns Mobile To Make News Feed Photos 3X Larger | TechCrunch
Anything that Facebook does to make the newsfeed more beautiful is great by me! However, not only do I never use Facebook to scan my newsfeed, I try and avoid the app altogether as the notifications are fairly buggy.
I do, however, use it to upload photos from my iPhone, and can’t remember the last time I uploaded some from the computer!
But, maybe if it looked prettier I would use it more…will you?

Does Length Matter? It Does for Video.

This is a really great blog post by the awesome guys over at Wistia. You probably know that shorter is better, with 50% more people watching a 1 min video vs a 2 min video. But did you know that a 4-5 min video will have about the same amount of engagement (people watching to the end) as a 8-10 min video?
